Michael's nomination story

"At age 18yrs, I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy - my life changed forever. I was forced to face substantial change. I had no idea what choices or opportunities lay ahead; it was a difficult and uncertain time. 29yrs on, I?m unable to stand and am confined to a wheelchair, yet those that know me, say I?ve been ?blessed? with a special type of kryptonite! My disability has never stopped me from living a full life; far from it ? the word disability may well apply to me but it will never define me. My life credo Quant Je Puis (As Much As I Can) underpins all that I now do. I?ve been fortunate to have had some memorable life-experiences - whilst there is breath in me, I want to continue to challenge my own adversity with humour and humility, whilst inspiring others less fortunate than me to reach their own potential."
