"I`ve always wanted to care, help, support and make a difference to other peoples lives for as long as I can remember. I qualified as a registered general nurse in 1997 but unfortunately I lost my eyesight on 9.11.01. This itself was a difficult and life changing time for me, but the urge to help people still remained and subsequently I qualified as a counsellor in June 2006. I continue to work voluntarily at a freeflow counselling service in Burnley. Despite my disabilities i have achieved a career which i love and feel i get as much out of it as the clients do. I have got married and recently had a son. Having a child when you have a disability is hard but possible, but also very rewarding i want the public to see that despite a disability a happy and successful life is possible."
