Lisa's nomination story

"The 92 in 92 team consists of 5 people who started fundraising in 2010 for the Downs Syndrome Association. The team were inspired by the team captain and his wife (thier daughter Taylor has Down Syndrome). The team had never fund raised before as they looked for an extreamlly challanging and different event to raise funds. They decided on visiting all 92 football league clubs in England and Wales in 92 hours! It took the team over 2500 miles around the county, driving non stop for four and half days. The driving was done by just 3 of the team with the other 3 people holding the fort at challange HQ. The team learned new and exciting skills such as website building, and developed a nack for not taking no for an answer and pushed local companies sponsorship. The team managed to rasie over £4000 at their first ever attempt. The team used social networking sites to gain over 2000 follwers during the challange and collected donations from the clubs en route. The team didnt know if the challange was possible to achieve in the 92 hours. Thanks to their hard work and determination they managed to complete it in 89hours and 15mins. The DSA had said they had never seen such commitment to such an unusual way of fund raising. One member of the team was nominated in the new volunteer of the year catagory at the BT chairmans awards for his work on this challange."
