Kiera's nomination story

"After losing her leg above the knee in a horrific accident, in 2001 Kiera became a trustee of the Limbless Association and spent eight years working for amputee charities before starting her own Charity called LimbPower. LimbPower's aim is to offer relief to the physically disabled by aiding rehabilitation and improving the quality of life through the medium of recreational and competitive sports and arts. Kiera`s hard work in organising events such as the London to Paris bike ride, Climbing Kilimanjaro and the Amputee Games has led to some of the amputees being noticed and going on to compete for Great Britain. Kiera's constant encouragement, positive attitude to life and helping amputees believe anything is possible is inspirational. I believe Kiera carrying the Torch would inspire not just amputees to have a go at things but able bodied people as well."
