"Golden Years Dance Troupe: The troupe consists of nearly 80 older people who, working with a chair based exercise instructor, participate in a choreographed routine. using Olympic and Paralympic sports as a starting point, they dance to well known pieces of music and alternative music (some East End classics; Bollywood & Zumba). They practise at regular rehearsals and have also performed at numerous events (including the London Borough Of Redbridge's 1 year to go to the Olympics Open Weekend Festival) to standing ovations. As well as a bit of light-hearted fun, this project is about physical activity for older people using chair based exercise techniques. The project encourages participants to be independent, to be sociable and to look to the future. The troupe range from 50 to 90 year olds and are extremely dedicated. They are willing to try anything once and are truly unique, they are passionate about the Games and an inspiration to the younger generation. "
