"As a passionate Chelsea fan it is an honour to be able nominate Jay to carry the Paralympic Torch. He has excelled at pan-disability levels of football, including outstanding performances against fully-mobile, learning-disabled squads. As a result, Jay has been a huge role model to both the blind footballing community and also, since becoming a father, many of the younger members of the squad. Jay has taken his coaching badges and also learned sign language to increase communications with the squad members. He has led many warm-up sessions and has been vice-captain for many of the pan-disability squads. Fatherhood has revealed a more understanding and patient Jay and he has since passed on that attitude to the whole squad, who have learned that patience and understanding are important factors for any successful team."
