"I'm age 47, work full time for social services, have 1 son aged 22. I have always tried to help with my community since having my son. At present I run the mother & toddler group and help with a slimming group. I chair the local Communities1's Partnership. I have lived in Port Tennant all my life and love it, I am an avid runner although not very good, but it's a great way of raising money for charity or local groups and keeping fit. This year I have entered race for life, The great north run and also a few local runs. As a volunteer I organise events for all the groups: Christmas parties, summer trips, Easter egg hunt, jubilee party and group entry in the race for life 30 of us. Volunteering in my community gives me a real sense of pride, I love what I do."
