Iris's nomination story

"For 35 years I have actively helped at Rugby Sport for the Disabled. I annually organise 15 Club Championships, Superstars, regional Kurling and for 28 years helped co-ordinate Rugby Disabled Sports Day (235-397 competitors). I enjoy coaching everyone, especially the less able, encouraging them to communicate and take part. With more confidence, they can focus on competitions and have the challenge of winning a medal. I began Crossbow shooting in 1995 and have won every International Championship entered. Since the World Crossbow Shooting Association began in 2003, despite pain, I have won every target, matchplay, forest, 3d and indoor World Championship in the Assisted (Disabled) division. The 2 day Forest and 3d rounds are extremely difficult with a wheelchair but I am determined to succeed and push for inclusion of disabled arbalists. I am 20 times a WCSA World Champion and hold 17 World Records. My ambition is to carry the flame."
