As a passionate Chelsea fan it is an honour to be able nominate Gareth to carry the Paralympic Torch. He has showcased his fantastic attitude self-sufficiency independence and winning mentality when he completed his university degree with honours while in full-time long-term employment. Leading by example he has demonstrated the same strength of character & commitment in his sporting life & has been appointed vice-captain in all squads he's part of. Despite the pressures on his time he is one of Chelsea Community FC's most committed squad members. Combining outstanding individual talent with a team ethic he plays & trains at a consistently high level & as a senior member of the squad passes on his experience and knowledge to new members of the team. Although he has undergone several operations on his knees & joints he still manages to play football with a high level of commitment & skill
