Clive's nomination story

"I am not an amazing person but I coach people who are. I run fencing courses for Wheelpower at Stoke Mandeville for children in wheelchairs and for adult amputees and spinal injuries (rehab) including Service Personnel. Two young fencers have progressed to the GB team for London 2012. Previously I`ve trained two other GB fencers, one competed at Atlanta and Sydney Paralympics. Besides coaching at Stoke Mandeville I run courses at local schools and a club. Away from fencing I have run a Mencap Gateway club for people with learning disabilities (8 years) and been a voluntary helper for a Disabled Carriage Driving group (7 years) and taken disabled people sailing. Now approaching age 75 carrying the Paralympic flame would crown a long, happy coaching career and be a big thank you to the courageous young people I`ve worked with."
