"Brian has excelled in every sport he has turned his hand to, representing his country in Wheelchair Basketball, Swimming and Fencing. Brian was Secretary of the International Wheelchair Fencing Committee, 1984/2005 and instrumental in shaping the rules, equipment and technique to the present day. Brian was a fierce and much respected competitor, and his medal tally includes ; Paralympic Silver and Bronze Medallist 1964, 1968, 1984, 1992 - Swimming and Wheelchair Fencing. / Gold Medallist World, Commonwealth and National Wheelchair Fencing Championships / European Championship and Director Wheelchair Fencing 1995. He has been Directoire Technique at Paralympic, World and European Wheelchair Fencing Championships and is the current President for the British Disabled Fencing Association. He has inspired and mentored many young athletes, and continues to the present day. His first paralympic medal (fencing) was at Stoke Mandeville ? therefore it is only right that he returns to carry the torch. "
