"Barbara has been involved with disability athletics for many years, initially with the multisports club at the Spinal centre where she worked as an O T. She continues to play a vital role in the development of the sport - particularly seated throwing events. Barbara has worked as a volunteer for the British Wheelchair Athletics Association (BWAA) since its inception in 1993, and has coached a a number of British Paralympic athletes during this time. She has been a staff team member at 6 Paralympic Games, 4 of them with the Athletics Squad, and 2 World Championships, and runs the highly competitive BWAA Grand Prix series at Stoke Mandeville which caters specifically for athletes in wheelchairs. In recent times, Barbara has also contributed to technical working groups informing IPC Athletics rule committees on seated throwing, and she continues to work with colleagues at UKAthletics to develop the sport at both grass-roots and elite level. Barbara`s enduring dedication to the sport is an inspiration to athletes and coaches alike and she shows no signs of letting up!"
