Arthur's nomination story

"Being born with Cerebral Palsy I realized from a very early age the power for speaking up for myself and other people with disabilities. Throughout my life it has always been a struggle to get the services that were needed. I was very lucky as my mother was a great advocate and never took no for an answer, seeing her fight for my rights gave me the courage in later life to carry her ideals on in the work I do. Without this knowledge I don't think I would have got as far as I have today. My enthusiasm to help other people in the same way that my family have supported me is my driving passion. I work hard, through organizations such as POhWER and Hertfordshire PASS to help get disabled people's voices heard, and to make a real difference for the in the future."
