Andy's nomination story

"Whilst doing a weeks special needs awareness course I was assigned to look after Carl 9, who had Cerebral Palsy and was wheelchair bound. Carl is now an adult living independently and we have become good friends. We spent some time as I pushed his chair visiting the sights in London. He says I am his inspiration but truly, he is mine. I started community sports leaders courses encouraging prisoners to help in their community. As I couldn`t take prisoners out, I invited disabled groups to work together. Some of the prisoners where excellent, it helped them re-evaluate their lives and we achieved some really good results. Over the years we helped many sponsored events so that I could take up to 20 people away on annual holiday, 12 to date. I couldn`t have done this without a lot of help and I will always be grateful."
