Pluta defeated Marc-Andre Cratere of France 15-8 in the Wheelchair Fencing category final and admitted afterwards that he felt relaxed going into the contest.

'I was very relaxed going into the fight,' said Pluta. 'What I really felt was inner peace and the worst for me were the quarter-finals and semi-finals, but after I got through those bouts, I just felt inner peace and all went well.'

After collecting his gold medal, Pluta was able to reflect on his achievement and added: 'It was simply amazing, I don't know what else to say, and it's for moments like that I live and train.'
