Shelly Woods of Great Britain leads in the women's 5,000m - T54 heats
(L-R) Amanda Mcgrory of the United States, Shelly Woods of Great Britain and Keira-Lyn Frie of Canada compete in the women's 5.000m - T54 round 1 heat on Day 2 of the London 2012 Paralympic Games at the Olympic Stadium.

After qualifying fastest from heat one of the women's 5000m - T54, Amanda said: 'The crowd here is nothing like I've ever experienced. When they called Shelly (Woods), the crowd went crazy - they were awesome.'

She qualified first in a time of 13:11.78 and said: 'It was slower than I thought. It was very technical and everyone was fighting for one-two-three. I am looking forward to the next round.'

Great Britain's Woods came third in the heat, also qualifying for Sunday's final. She said: 'It was absolutely amazing. I've never experienced anything like it, it was immense.

'There are so many people out there and I guess you can take it in different ways, but for me it can only be good because they are all shouting for me.'
