China celebrate scoring a point against Bosnia and Herzegovina during their Pool B preliminary round of the Sitting Volleyball tournament on Day 1 of the London 2012 Paralympic Games at ExCeL.

Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered a convincing victory over China in Pool B but despite being pleased with his team’s performance, coach Mirza Hrustemovic refused to get ahead of himself and insisted his players must fight hard for every victory.

'It was a very hard match,' he said. 'China have been playing a very high level for four years. It was the first game and we were a little nervous. I am happy we won, China are good.

'Every match we must fight,as everyone is playing well. There are a lot of good teams here. I hope every day we can play better and better.'

Bosnian player Ermin Jusufovic added: 'We are definitely going for the gold. The match against Iran will be the real test for us to see if we can get the gold.'

Reigning Paralympic champions Iran defeated Rwanda in Pool B’s second match and captain Jalil Eimery revealed his side’s recipe for success.

'First of all we train a lot in our country and we have been training together for the last 14 months,' he said. 'We have played big international tournaments. We do a lot of work to stay on top.'

Russia eased to a 3-0 victory over Great Britain in the opening match of Pool A, Alexander Savichev scoring 16 points to fire his team to victory.

'It was a very nervous match for us against a very tough opponent,' said coach Viktor Dyakov. 'We have not played any high-profile games for a long period. So we were very nervous to get back into the game. We did well. It was a superb first match for us.

'All opponents are good in the Paralympics, we just have to keep our heads straight and keep doing what we do. We aim high all the time.'

Pool A’s other match ended in yet another straight-sets victory as Egypt defeated Morocco in an all-African clash.
