The Music Nation programme includes Romp by James Young, a new commission by the European Union Chamber Orchestra.The line-up for the spectacular musical weekend, devised and led by the BBC, features over 10,000 participants, 18 new works and over 24 hours of content on BBC Radio 3.
Radio 3 will broadcast performances by the six BBC Performing Groups and external partners including the Association of British Orchestras, the British Association of Concert Halls, Orchestras Live, Making Music and the Barbican.
There will also be coverage of Music Nation events across BBC radio channels and on the BBC 2012 website.

World-class line-up
Featured repertoire will range from new commissions to pieces by some of the most well-known composers. Highlights include:
- The world premiere of a new work by Karl Jenkins Songs of the Earth, performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales
- The world premiere of James MacMillan’s Fanfare Upon One Note to be performed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
- The UK premiere of Rufus Wainwright’s Five Shakespeare Sonnets performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra
- The world premiere of Roxanna Panufnik’s completed work Four World Seasons, performed by the London Mozart Players
