Patryk Chojnowski receives his gold medal after winning the men's Singles - Class 10 competition on Day 4 of the Paralympic Games.

Competing in his first Paralympic Games, Chojnowski overcame Ge 3-0 at the ExCeL yesterday.

Reflecting on his gold medal success, Chojnowski said: 'I am so happy, I am very happy. I have been working very hard for one year preparing for this tournament.

'It was very hard, I did everything myself. For the first six months I played without a coach and I did my training myself.'

Ge was the defending champion but Chojnowski produced a determined display to claim the title.

'I fought for every ball. I was losing 3-9 in the first game but I just played. I did not think of the next game because I really wanted to win the first,' he added.

'I did not think about the match I had lost, I was thinking about what is now and I was going on from ball to ball.'

He celebrated his victory by removing his shirt, and said: 'Before the match I did not plan this. It just happened. I was so happy. I did not know what I was doing, I just took off my shirt. Maybe I watch a lot of football and was thinking of that.'
