Champions China beat debutants Brazil

China beat Brazil 3-1 to make it two wins out of two in their Sitting Volleyball Pool B match at ExCeL.

In the first set, scoring was even as Brazil eased into their first Paralympic Games match. In a close set, China wasted one set point but made no mistake the second time around, winning 26-24.

China increased the tempo in the second set to open an 11-point gap on Brazil and lead 20-9. Brazil battled on gamely but some good spiking secured the set 25-15 for China as they looked to be closing in on victory.

But it was Brazil who dominated the third set as they looked to be finding their way back into the match.

Nathalie Silva was spiking well and, although China stayed within striking distance, the South Americans were able to close out the set 25-20 to bring the match score back to 2-1.

China came back strongly in the fourth set, putting points on the board to distance themselves from Brazil. A spike from Tan Yanhua gave them the set 25-16 and a 3-1 victory.

It was China's second win in as many matches after they beat USA yesterday. They next play Slovenia on Monday, with Brazil scheduled to meet Slovenia on tomorrow.
