Jordi Morales claimed a tense deciding match in the 3-1 quarter-final win for the Spaniards, which all came down to the final game.

He said: 'It was an incredibly difficult match, we didn't know how it was going to end. It was one of those nail-biting matches that you sometimes get.

'I was winning 9-1 then China pulled it back and it was match point 11-10 and then I pulled it back to win the match.'

There was only one 3-0 win in the category's quarter-finals as Great Britain beat Italy. Poland and Germany also progressed to the semi-finals, where Poland play Great Britain and Germany face Spain.

China had better luck in the Team - Class 4-5 contest, as they joined France and Republic of Korea in recording 3-0 quarter-final victories.

Chinese Taipei also emerged victorious, defeating Egypt to earn a clash with Republic of Korea in the semi-finals, while China take on France.

Ko Kun-Nan of Chinese Taipei said: 'Today's performance was very good. Every player from Egypt was a quality player, but we worked really hard pre-match in the limited time we had.

'Lin Wen-Hsin has problems with his waist which can make things difficult, but today he did extremely well.'
