During the London 2012 Games, Old Trafford will host nine Football matches during the Olympic Games, including a semi-final in both the men's and women's competitions.
How will the local area be affected?
- London 2012 is encouraging ticketed spectators to travel to competition venues by public transport, walk or cycle so local metrolink, train services and bus routes will be busier than usual
- Spectators are encouraged to arrive at the ground at least 2 hours before the match starts so residents may notice spectators gathering at the venue earlier than at a usual football match at the ground
- Some temporary parking and traffic restrictions will be in place to provide a safe environment around venues and keep traffic moving

Local travel information
The London 2012 Games will attract large numbers of visitors to venues and their surrounding areas, which means some temporary traffic and parking restrictions will be needed. These measures are designed to discourage spectators from parking around the venue and to make sure that traffic flows as freely as possible during the Games.
The measures will affect the following roads:
· Sir Matt Busby Way. Closed to all traffic.
· Waters Reach Access for private businesses. No on-street parking available during road closures.
· Trafford Wharf Road between Elevator Road and Trafford Road encompassing Waterside. Open for emergency services and local businesses.
· Brian Statham Way between Talbot Road and Old Trafford Metrolink. Open for emergency services and local businesses.
· John Gilbert Way Open for emergency services and local businesses.
· Warwick Road between Chester Road and Talbot Road. Access to residents and business only. Parking permits are required.
The measures will be in operation during the following times:
Thurs 26 July 2–11pm
Sun 29 July 9am–6pm
Tues 31 July 2.15–8.15pm
Wed 1 August 2–8pm
Sat 4 August 9am–3pm
Mon 6 August 4.45–10.45pm
Tues 7 August 4.45–10.45pm
Access to residential properties will be maintained for those who live within the traffic management area. Households will be able to use their current parking passes to gain access through vehicle check points to their properties. Visitors (such as carers, friends, and deliveries) will still have access; however they must have a visitor permit.
