Welcome to International Inspiration, London 2012’s international sports legacy programme.
International Inspiration has enriched the lives of 12 million children and young people in 20 countries around the world through high-quality and inclusive physical education, sport and play.
The programme embodies the promise made by Seb Coe at the Singapore bid in 2005 to ‘reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games so they are inspired to choose sport’.
International Inspiration inspires and enables millions of young people in countries around the world to play sport. This changes lives, opening doors to self-empowerment, health, inclusion, excellence or simply the joy of participation.
Below you can find a selection of information and resources for International Inspiration, including Young Leader training modules and publications.
Here you will find resources and publications related to International Inspiration including annual reviews, brochures and educational resources.
Learn traditional games
As part of International Inspiration, young people around the world learn about different countries, cultures and traditions through the school links programme. With over 500 schools getting involved through the programme worldwide, one way of achieving this has been to share traditional games from their home country.
The International Inspiration team has created a new resource focused on some of these traditional games. The resource is made up of a set of illustrated cards, explaining how each game is played. There are 22 games in total including target games, striking games and invasion games.
Anyone can use these resources by introducing these games within their school or community. If you have a partner school somewhere else in the world, why not ask them what games they play and learn those too?
Young Leader modules
This new resource is designed to encourage International Inspiration Young Leaders from the UK and around the world to strengthen their link to London 2012 and share this knowledge with their school and wider community. These resources will help Young Leaders to develop leadership skills and learn how to manage sports events that bring their schools and communities together and celebrate Olympic and Paralympic Values.
Young Leaders will also be introduced to new cultures and traditions within the UK and 20 International Inspiration countries around the world, and take part in fun and engaging activities designed to help them learn about London 2012’s venues, milestones and the organisations it takes to make the Games happen.
