The Time Trial is a straightforward race – 1km for men, 500m for women. Athletes take to the track alone and the fastest time wins the gold medal.
In the Time Trial events, cyclists with different classifications compete against each other, a process called factoring is used in order to take into account the severity of the disabilities of each competitor.
The competitor with the fastest time after the times have been factored is awarded the gold medal.
