Venezuela made their Paralympic Games debut in 1984 in Stoke Mandeville and New York, sending five athletes to compete in athletics and one in swimming. They missed the Games of 1988, but returned in 1992. The country's first and only Paralympic gold medal was won in 2008 by Naomi SOAZO in judo; 2008 was also the Games that Venezuela won their most medals with one gold, one silver and two bronze.
