Highlights

Netherlands participated in the inaugural Paralympic Games in 1960 in Rome with a delegation of five athletes. They have won 651 medals (250 gold). Their most successful Games were in 1976 in Toronto where they finished second behind the United States. Netherlands had their highest medal count at the Games of 1984 in Los Angeles capturing 135 medals, 55 of which were gold. In 2004, they failed for the first time since 1964 to win at least 10 gold medals. The 1980 Paralympic Games were held in Arnhem, Netherlands.
