Myanmar first participated as Burma in 1976 in Toronto with competitors in athletics and shooting. Ngwe MAUNG TIN became Burma's first Paralympic champion when he won the 100m. Burma missed the 1980 Games, returning in 1984 to compete in athletics and volleyball. Myanmar made their Paralympic Games debut in 1992 in Barcelona with one sprinter (Kyaw KHAING.) They did not compete again until 2008. Although Burma won seven medals (two gold, three silver, two bronze), no athlete has won a Paralympic medal for Myanmar.
