Highlights

With just four athletes in track and field, Hungary made their Paralympic Games debut in 1972 in Heidelberg. They missed the Games of 1976 and 1980, but returned to compete in 1984 and have not missed a Games since. Their 109 Paralympic medals place them 33rd on the all-time medal table. Attila JESZENSZKY is their most successful Paralympian, winning four gold medals in swimming in 1984. Hungary have the only athlete to have ever won medals at both the Paralympic and Olympic Games. Fencer Pal SZEKERES won a bronze medal at the 1998 Olympic Games in Seoul, before being disabled in a bus accident and beginning his Paralympic career in wheelchair fencing where he won six Paralympic medals (three gold).
