Highlights

France participated in the inaugural Paralympic Games in Rome in 1960, and have competed in every Games since. They have won 965 Paralympic medals, placing them fourth on the all-time medal table. Their most successful Games were in 1992 in Barcelona, where they won 106 medals ranking them fourth overall. One of their most successful athletes is swimmer Béatrice HESS, who has won 20 gold medals. The 1992 Winter Paralympic Games were held in Tignes and Albertville, France.
