Highlights
The Faroe Islands first competed at the Paralympic Games of 1984, and have participated in every edition since.
Swimmer Christina NAESS is their first and only Paralympic gold medallist, winning the 100m backstroke in 1988.
They have won 13 medals (one gold, seven silver, five bronze), getting seven of those medals in 1988.
The Faroe Islands have only ever sent swimmers to the Paralympic Games, with the sole exception of Heini FESTIRSTEIN, who competed in table tennis in 1992.
Faroe Islands are one of very few territories (along with Macao China) to compete at the Paralympic Games but not at the Olympic Games, since Faroese athletes compete as members of Denmark at the Olympic Games.
