A Wheelchair Basketball star who played for teams across the world, Troy Sachs has competed in five Paralympic Games.

He first represented Australia in 1992 at the age of 16, although the team missed out on a medal at the Games in Barcelona.

Four years later Sachs scored 42 points in the gold medal match as Australia triumphed over Great Britain at Sydney 2000.

After captaining his national team to silver at Athens 2004, Sachs went one better at Beijing 2008 years later, leading the team to the gold medal.

In 1997 he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for Excellence and Service to wheelchair basketball.
