British rider Lee Pearson has won three gold medals at each of the last three Paralympic Games.
At his first Games in Sydney, Pearson was propelled into the public spotlight when he won gold in the Mixed, Mixed Freestyle and Mixed Team events.
Astride his horse Blue Circle Boy, Pearson was again dominant at Athens 2004 where he claimed three more gold medals in the same events. Following his Mixed Dressage gold, he presented his winner’s flowers to Valerie Salles, whose horse had died earlier on entering the arena.
At Beijing 2008 Pearson completed his hat-trick of three gold medals in successive Games, triumphing once more in the Mixed, Mixed Freestyle and Mixed Team events.
An inspirational rider, Pearson also won the 2003 British National Championships, in which he competed against non-disabled riders.
