Isabel Newstead won a total of ten medals over five Games, including gold medals in Shooting, Swimming and Athletics.

Newstead first competed at the Games in Swimming events, winning six golds. Her first Shooting gold medal came at the New York/Stoke Mandeville 1984 Games, in which she won the Air Pistol 1A-1C event. At the same Games, Newstead won Athletics medals in Shot Put 1B and Discus 1B.

At Seoul 1988 she won four medals including a Shooting bronze and an Athletics gold, further proving her sporting versatility. With gold medals following in Air Pistol SH1 at both Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, Newstead succeeded in a range of Paralympic sports.

Newstead tragically died in 2007 at the age of just 51.
