David Roberts is one of Britain’s most successful Paralympians, winning a total of 11 gold medals across three successive Paralympic Games.
His first taste of Paralympic Games action came at Sydney 2000 where he took home medals from every event he contested, winning three golds, three silvers and a bronze.
Four years later in Athens he successfully defended his 50m and 100m Freestyle S7 titles on his way to winning four golds and a silver.
At Beijing 2008 Roberts brought his medal tally to 16 with another four golds, and was given the honour of carrying the Great British flag at the Closing Ceremony of the Games.
Roberts was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours.
