Having competed at a total of five Paralympic Games, Chantal Benoit is one of the leading women’s Wheelchair Basketball players of all time.
The first of her three gold medals came as part of the victorious Canadian team at Barcelona 1992, and this was triumph was repeated at both Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. Benoit also won a bronze medal at the Athens 2004 Games.
In 2000 Benoit received the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation’s highest honour, the Gold Medal Triad Award, presented to an individual who has contributed in an outstanding manner to the growth of wheelchair basketball. She was also voted Wheelchair Basketball Canada Female Athlete of the Year in 2008.
