Bryan Kirkland’s three Paralympic medals mean he is one of the most successful Wheelchair Basketball players of the Games.

Having won the demonstration event in the sport at the Atlanta 1996 Games, Kirkland’s American team clinched the first official gold when Wheelchair Rugby was included in the Games programme for the first time at Sydney 2000.

Although the USA were only able to win a bronze at Athens 2004, Kirkland captained the team to another gold medal at Beijing 2008, defeating Australia 53-44 in the final.
