He started playing football when he was six years old and when he was fourteen he participated in a Talent Day for Cerebral Palsy football teams organised by the Dutch football association KNVB. He was selected and played for the national squads at U15, U17 and U19 level. In 2009 he was selected to join the Dutch paralympic CP team, but after two months he was let go by the head coach who felt he was not good enough for the highest level.
