Teams consist of three athletes that shoot using the recurve bow only.
All athletes shoot 72 arrows during a ranking round. Their total score from this round determines the seedings for the competition.
Athletes’ individual scores from the ranking round will be combined to create a total of points for each team. As with the Individual events, teams shoot in a knockout round: the highest ranked team competes against the lowest ranked team and so on. Each team shoots four sets of six arrows (two arrows per athlete). The team with the highest total wins the match.
If two teams are tied, a three-arrow shoot-off is held. If this doesn’t separate them, the team with the arrow closest to the centre of the target is the winner.
At the end of the knockout stage the winners of the semi-final matches compete in the gold-medal match and the remaining two teams compete in the bronze-medal match.
