From Cardiff to Aberystwyth, the Games are creating thousands of opportunities for people across Wales. We have more than 100 projects in Wales across our six Inspire themes.

How many people have benefited from your Inspire project?
In 2011 around 1,200 competitors took part in Gemau Cymru – we expect 1,500 in 2012. We also expect 160 volunteers to be trained to help us deliver the event this year.
What do you think has been your greatest achievement?
We’ve raised the profile of less well-known Olympic sports in Wales, and have organised a successful bilingual event that enables everyone to take part and promotes the use of the Welsh language.
How have you benefitted from being an Inspire mark project?
The Inspire mark project status provided us with a great platform to kick start the first year of the event. Through the Inspire Programmer we have been able to benefit from additional opportunities, for example the opportunity to showcase the project at the Live Sites in Cardiff and Swansea.

Criw Cymru
Project organiser: Wales Millennium Centre
Theme: Culture
Criw Cymru is a pan-Wales initiative of the Wales Millennium Centre (WMC), focusing on developing urban arts skills for young participants. Criw Cymru is an exhilarating new hip hop project run by the centre, in partnership with Galeri, Caernarfon and Theatre Brycheiniog in Brecon, charged with putting Welsh hip hop theatre on the map.
Coleg Criw Cymru is a week-long residential hip hop performance course designed to tighten up skills and create a brand new piece of hip hop theatre to perform live to hundreds of people. Throughout an intensive week of activity the participants will get the chance to work with the best tutors in rapping, graffiti and hip hop dance. The involvement of a top athlete and other professional artists currently working in the UK, will give project participants a big boost to their performance skills.
This group of like-minded young people will develop skills and understanding of hip hop together. Criw Cymru will advance hip hop theatre in Wales by linking it to the 2012 Games.
Welsh Local Authority Sports Leadership and Volunteering Outreach Programme

Theme: Volunteering
This programme will give an opportunity for each county in Wales to have a sports leadership and volunteering programme , geared towards London 2012 Games-inspired activities and events which will subsequently leave a legacy of trained sports leaders in the community after 2012.
Each county in Wales will establish a Sports Leadership Outreach Centre supported via a steering group of stakeholders including sports development, education, leisure centres, youth services, youth offending teams, sports clubs and communities first. The steering group will look at the needs of their client group and seek to share expertise and coordinate activities that are inspired by the Games. The project is also working with StreetGames to offer 2,012 Inspired Community Games in deprived areas across Wales.
