The Get Set London Roadshow 2008 travelled throughout the capital from 9 January - 6 April. There were over 30 events around the capital, explaining the opportunities of the Games to more than 31,000 visitors.
Run jointly by the London Development Agency and London 2012, it brought to life some of London’s ambitions for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
It was a chance for Londoners to find out how the 2012 Games will benefit jobs and skills, culture, sports, business and regeneration in the capital.
The roadshow's journey:
Launch at Trafalgar Square Wednesday 9 January
The Launch of the London Get Set Roadshow was a huge success. Not only were Seb Coe, Ken Livingstone, Jonathan Edwards and Tessa Jowell all there but we were also joined by some young 2012 hopefuls.
A chilly winter morning did not stop our special guests showing their passion for sport. Shanaze Reade (BMX), tried out the rowing machine to see her average speed and then compared it to Steve Redgrave’s. Given the result it was decided maybe Rowing is not her sport. Next up was Thomas Daley (Diving) who tried out the hand eye coordination test.
Paralympic Swimmer Giles Long also joined us at Trafalgar Square to show his support for London 2012.
