The Planning Committee has recommended that the Olympic Park planning applications should be approved subject to conditions.
The recommendation will now go to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and the Mayor of London for approval before permission for the applications is granted.
At a public meeting held last night at Stratford Circus, the Planning Committee received an overview presentation from the applicant and heard evidence from objectors and supporters, before debating the applications.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Lorraine Baldry, said:
“The Committee has studied the applications and all the feedback and we have come to the conclusion that the applications should be approved.
“We are confident that the proposals have been through an extensive and thorough consultation process.
“The Committee members consider that these proposals will help deliver a world class Olympic and Paralympic Games and will kick start of the regeneration of the area and help transform the Lower Lea Valley.”
The application was submitted in February to the Planning Decisions Team (PDT), an independent body responsible for processing all applications relating to the Olympic Park on behalf of the Planning Committee.
The PDT then carried out public consultation to allow any interested parties and members of the public to comment on the plans and request additional information. This included public exhibitions, sending out information to homes and businesses in the area, making copies of the applications available to view online and at the PDT public office and local libraries.
