Shortlist unveiled for Park infrastructure contracts

The shortlisted teams competing to deliver the first packages of structures, bridges, highways and associated infrastructure for the Olympic Park, in Games time and in legacy, have been announced by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).

The structures, roads and bridges project will play a major role in creating a compact and integrated Olympic Park and leaving an open and accessible area in legacy.

The project has been divided into a number of contract packages to maximise market interest and present opportunities to a range of companies. In March an OJEU contract notice was issued for the first four packages of work and teams have now been shortlisted for each package:

ODA Director of Infrastructure Simon Wright said:

"The structures, roads and bridges will be key to joining the various parts of the Olympic Park jigsaw together. This is a challenging project which requires teams to deliver a mixture of permanent and temporary structures which meet Games-time needs but which also leave behind infrastructure for use by the legacy communities after 2012.

"We are pleased to have such a high quality shortlist of teams competing to deliver these essential works which will help us create the best-connected Games ever and provide an open and accessible Park in legacy."

The appointment of the chosen contractors for the first packages of work is expected in early 2008. Contract notices for further packages of work within the structures, roads and bridges project will appear in September 2007 and at the end of 2008.
