Olympic Delivery Authority narrows search on key utility contract

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), acting on behalf of itself and Stratford City Development Limited, has decided to shortlist five companies from the utilities industry to design and build a key electrical substation within the Olympic Park.

The companies that have pre-qualified and will be formally invited to tender are:

  • EDF Energy Contracting Ltd
  • Siemens Transmission and Distribution Ltd
  • Enterprise Power Services Ltd
  • Scottish and Southern Energy
  • Freedom Group
The work to be undertaken is to design, construct, test and commission a new 132/11kv primary substation. The relevant works include the electrical components, fit-out and architectural treatment. The Primary Substation will form a key part of the electrical infrastructure for the Olympic Park, the Stratford City Development and the ongoing regeneration of the Lower Lea Valley area.

The ownership and operation of the primary substation will form part of a subsequent contract.

Notes to Editors

1. The procurement of the primary substation is separate procurement from the procurement to appoint a utilities services provider;
2. The ODA anticipates that the contract for the primary substation will be awarded in April 2007.
