London 2012 - Tender issued for website redesign

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today launched an Invitation to Tender for the redesign and rebuild of its flagship website, www.london2012.com.

The London 2012 website will serve the London Organising Committee and the Olympic Delivery Authority in the build up to and during the 2012 Games. It is rapidly expanding in scale and scope and includes the recently launched official London 2012 blog, Work in Progress, which can be found at http://blog.london2012.com.

The tender document sets out the immediate need for a company or companies to assist in the website rebuild. Submissions are expected on or before Wednesday 13th December.

There will be additional opportunities for companies to supply a variety of new media services in 2007 and beyond, and London 2012 intends to assemble a list of preferred suppliers at a later date who can bid for contracts.

The Invitation to Tender process will include a live online conference / webcast for tenderers in early December. An archive of this conference will be available online.

The successful tenderer(s) are expected to be appointed by early 2007.

Alex Balfour, Head of New Media at London 2012 commented:

"Our website and our blog are our windows on the world, and an integral communications channel for us. As we enter the digital era, our website and digital content will help us define the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and engage with the whole nation. We will relaunch our site early next year, and look forward to working with the best of British new media companies."
