Be part of 2012 - Roadshow tours Northern Ireland

26 July 2006

The 2012 Roadshow travelling the country from 6 to 27 July to spread the inspirational message of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has now notched up over 3,000 miles after touring Northern Ireland on 24 and 25 July.

The "Be Part of 2012 Roadshow" bus, unveiled in Trafalgar Square on 6 July, stopped in the city of Derry, in Antrim, Jordanstown, Belfast, Bangor and at Stormont.

After 16 days of travelling the 2012 Roadshow bus has now made 58 of its 65 scheduled stops in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Sir Keith Mills, Deputy Chairman of the London organising committee, said:

"We have been out there telling people across Northern Ireland how they can benefit from 2012 in so many different ways whether as companies winning contracts, or as individuals volunteering, watching or even competing.

"It's great to see that Northern Ireland is committed to sport in so many ways, from youth programmes to investing in major new facilities.

"We found real enthusiasm for 2012 during our time in Northern Ireland and we are committed to seeing real benefits for every part of the UK from the London Games."

Everywhere it goes the 2012 Roadshow brings senior figures from London 2012, the Government and sport to talk about progress made in the last year, future plans and to explain how everybody can be part of 2012.
