Olympic Delivery Authority appoints Director of Infrastructure and Utilities

Simon Wright was today appointed as the new Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Director of Infrastructure & Utilities. He comes to the ODA from Ove Arup & Partners Ltd, where he was Director and Group Leader of Arup Project Management Europe.


At the ODA Mr Wright will be responsible for the delivery of environmental, geotechnical and civil engineering solutions and infrastructure, including ground remediation, earthworks, pylon undergrounding, foundations and heavy structures, all within budgets and timelines.

He will also be responsible for the commissioning and securing of operator licences to provide for a full range of all major utilities water and sewerage, gas, electricity and other services required to stage the London Olympic and Paralympic Games and to ensure that legacy issues are fully integrated and planned for.

David Higgins, ODA Chief Executive said: "Simon has over 30 years experience in managing complex, large-scale infrastructure projects and he will be an invaluable addition to the ODA senior management team. Getting the infrastructure and utilities right is crucial to the staging of a successful Games and to ensuring we leave a lasting regeneration legacy for the people of East London."

Mr Wright has worked on projects such as the £200 million Greenwich Peninsular regeneration, Battersea Power Station site redevelopment and a major flood alleviation scheme in Hong Kong. He will join the ODA in August 2006.
