Wrestling set to provide a summer of sporting drama at ExCeL

Played out on a circular mat, Wrestling is a battle of nerves, strength and skill.

The competition consists of two disciplines – Greco-Roman, where athletes use their upper bodies and arms only, and Freestyle, where athletes can use any part of their bodies.

The London 2012 Wrestling action gets underway at ExCeL – which will also host six other Olympic competitions – on 5 August, with the final sessions taking place on 12 August, the last day of the Games.

A total of 344 wrestler will compete across 18 medal events. These include seven Greco-Roman events for men and 11 Freestyle events, including seven for men and four for women.

All entries for Wrestling will be confirmed following the sport entries deadline on 9 July 2012.
