The programme goes on sale today online at www.london2012.com/shop and at official London 2012 shops and John Lewis department stores across the UK, priced at only £10.

At just over 190 pages, the programme explores the history of previous Olympic Games, provides an A-Z of this year’s Olympic sports and contains exclusive introductory letters from Her Majesty The Queen, David Cameron and Mayor Boris Johnson, making this programme a unique keepsake for London 2012.

Sports fans can also learn more about some of the world’s greatest athletes, with an in-depth interview from the fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt, and unique photography of international sports heroes Rafael Nadal and Michael Phelps, among many more.

LOCOG chief executive, Paul Deighton said: ‘The official souvenir programme of the London 2012 Olympic Games is a comprehensive, insider’s exclusive view of the Games and will be the ultimate keepsake from London 2012.

‘We are thrilled with the contributors who have been involved in creating this souvenir. From a specially commissioned piece of art by Sir Peter Blake, to imagery from leading fashion photographer Jonathan Glynn-Smith, it celebrates the efforts which have gone into hosting this year’s Games.’
