Two-time Olympic Games champions Netherlands staged a late rally to beat Belgium 3-1, but they were indebted to penalty corner striker Mink van der Weerden.

It took until seven minutes after the interval for the Dutch to make the breakthrough when Van der Meerden converted only their second corner.

But the world number 11s, ranked eight below their rivals, hit back with 12 minutes remaining when Jerome Dekeyser slotted home a penalty corner.

However, their lead lasted only four minutes as Van der Meerden converted his second set-piece to make it three in two matches.

Bob de Voogd put the victory beyond doubt with 40 seconds remaining.
