The Scandinavians, who beat Argentina in their opening game, laid the foundations for the comfortable victory with a blistering start as they raced into a 13-3 lead after 20 minutes, with Alexander Petersson particularly enjoying himself with four goals.
A more spirited Tunisian performance in the final 10 minutes of the first half saw them reduce the deficit slightly, trailing 19-8 at the interval.
Iceland threw in the first four goals of the second half, but the Africans restored some hope with a fine final 20 minutes, themselves registering five unanswered goals.
It was never going to be enough, though, and Iceland held on for a 10-goal victory, with Aron Palmarsson top-scoring with eight, while the Tunisians relied on Amine Bannour, who notched double figures with 10.
